Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph

Matthew 2:13–15, 19–23

REFLECT

“Nazareth is the school where one begins to understand the life of Jesus: the school of the Gospel,” according to Pope Saint Paul VI. For him, as for many other masters of the spiritual life, we learn to look, to listen, and to meditate at Nazareth. There is a great temptation to divorce the spiritual life from daily life; to believe that prayer and study are something set apart, sectioned off from the rest of life. And yet the Holy Family teaches us that the secret to holiness is that it’s lived in our day-to-day lives. Our chores, and joys, and vacations, and errands, and dinners, and laundry … these are all part of living the spiritual life to the full!

PRAY

Heavenly Father, pour out your grace in my life, that my family will be shaped more and more after the communion of the Holy Trinity. Give us all the great virtues of faith, hope, and love in abundance. Amen.
