Mark 8:14–21

REFLECT

Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is a day of feasting and revelry. It’s a day for indulging in delicious food, colorful parades, and joyful music … all in anticipation of Lent! Mardi Gras encourages us to express joy and gratitude for the gift of life. In our faith, joy is not merely a fleeting emotion but a deep-seated contentment that comes from being in communion with God. As we celebrate, let us also express gratitude for the joy of faith and pray that through our Lenten disciplines our gratitude and joy will grow.

PRAY

Lord Jesus, grant me the fortitude to abstain well during this Lenten season. May this period of prayer and self-reflection nourish my faith and enable me to perceive more distinctly your goodness. Amen.
