Matthew 5:43–48

REFLECT

“Be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Mt 5:48). Who could ever live up to this command of Jesus? In one way, of course, only God, absolutely speaking, is perfect. But there is a kind of perfection that is possible for creatures: to love God with our whole heart. To have God as the driving goal, the aim, the great desire of our hearts, and to live accordingly, is possible in this life. May we order our lives in such a way that seeking God is always our purpose and intention.

PRAY

Jesus, you are the resurrection and the life. Grant me the hope of eternal life as I journey through this Lenten season. Help me to let go of worldly attachments and fix my eyes on the treasures of heaven. Amen.

LIVE
