FRIDAY OF THE THIRD WEEK OF ADVENT

O Rex Gentium

Reflect

What are the joys of your heart? For many people it is family — children and grandchildren inspire tremendous joy. For others, nature, music (hearing a great orchestra or a talented singer), or craftsmanship (delighting in well-made things) open up the horizons of the heart. Many of the good and beautiful marvels of this life coax us out of our inner selves and suggest that we were made for more. St. John Paul II said, “It is Jesus you seek when you dream of happiness; he is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; he is the beauty to which you are so attracted.” Christ is the ultimate, greatest joy of the heart. Our hearts ache awaiting his coming.

Pray

O King of all the Nations, the only joy of every human heart, come and save the creature you fashioned from the dust. Amen.

Live

Make a list of the things that bring you joy. Give thanks to God for the many blessings he has given you.

We look forward to continuing this journey with you tomorrow.
