FEAST OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE

Revelation 12:1–6

REFLECT

Beginning December 9, 1531, Our Lady appeared to St. Juan Diego daily, over the course of four days. During each appearance, she offered Juan Diego a tender message, consoling him and exhorting him to trust. On December 12 she told him: “Hear me and understand well, my little son, that nothing should frighten or grieve you. Let not your heart be disturbed. Do not fear that sickness, nor any other sickness or anguish. Am I not here, who is your Mother?” This promise of closeness is one we all need to hear. Centuries later, today, Our Lady offers us that same care and protection. Let us turn to our mother, holy Mary, with all confidence. She remains very near to us, helping us to carry every burden and sorrow.

PRAY

Holy Mother, patroness of life and protectress of your sons and daughters, carry the prayers of our hearts to your son. Be near to us always, and comfort every heavy heart. Amen.

LIVE

Place a rose near a statue of the Virgin Mary, perhaps in your home or in your parish church, as a sign of your devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe.

We look forward to continuing this journey with you tomorrow.
