Epiphany of the Lord

Matthew 2:1–12

REFLECT

Italian priest and philosopher Fr. Luigi Giussani famously once came upon a young couple kissing in the street. Interrupting their romance, he asked them, “What does what you are doing have to do with the stars?” Fr. Giussani didn’t object to the young couple, rather, he objected to a young couple isolating themselves from the universe, from greater meaning. The Star of Bethlehem drew the Magi to Christ. And the stars above still call us out from ourselves, from our smallness, begging us to ponder the One who fashioned and placed them in the heavens above.

PRAY

Lord Jesus, may I bravely follow where you lead, even if it means going out from where I feel comfortable. May I always delight in finding you. Amen.
