THURSDAY OF THE THIRD WEEK OF ADVENT

O Oriens

Reflect

Cadillac Mountain, located on Mount Desert Island in Acadia National Park in Maine, is known as the first place in the continental United States that the sun touches when it rises. I’ve witnessed several sunrises from Cadillac Mountain … they are exquisite! There’s something about the freshness of morning light, a dynamism unlike anything else, when those first rays of light cross the horizon and scatter the darkness. Morning light is clearer, shining brilliantly against the darkness; this is the way that Christ illuminates the obscurity of our hearts. In Advent, we watch for those first glimmers of hope, knowing that by the Savior’s power sin and death will be vanquished.

Pray

O Radiant Dawn, splendor of eternal light, sun of justice, come, shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death. Amen.

Live

Awake before dawn one day this Advent to see the sun rise, and contemplate Christ, who comes bringing light.

We look forward to continuing this journey with you tomorrow.
